Dubai's economy was originally built on the back of the oil industry. Revenues from natural gas and petroleum contribute less than 6% on 2006. Construction and Real estate, contributed 22.6% to the economy in 2006. Dubai has grown and attracted attention through its real estate buildings and sports events.
By now (2009), main revenues are from, real estate, tourism and financial services. Dubayy as a Global City and business hub, has increased and contributed largely to South Asian workforce development.
